PADMAAVAT

PADMAAVATBollywood has one of the most thriving film industries in the world after Hollywood of course. This explains why a lot of their movies have crossed into the mainstream market with fan base all over the world. But despite their high performing movies, there are some Hollywood movies that come into the Indian market and dominate it. But, before you rush off in annoyance, you would be happy to know that not many Hollywood films (regardless of the hype) made it on this list. Local content still stole shows at the Indian box office.

PADMAAVAT: This epic love story stars Bollywood superstars, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Set in a Delhi, we are thrown in a mad plot of a crazy king (well, what did we expect) to overthrow the monarchy of Delhi and rule the city/kingdom. Fans are treated to spectacular performances by their favorite Bollywood stars who interpret their roles and characters with perfection. From the costumes to the sound track to the stunning imagery, there is very little to complain about

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Unsurprisingly, this star packed marvel comic movie made waves in the Indian box office. This action adventure features a litany of our all-time favorite heroesina battle for the survival of not just earth but the entire universe; showcasing a display of wit, sizzling scenes, mind blowing visual effects and of course, a super villain that is worthy of the challenge. It really does not surprise us to see the Avengers as major players here grossing over $31 million since its opening

BAAGHI 2: Described by a reviewer as India’s answer to John Wick (it doesn’t come close people), only, instead of a dog we have this one-man army fighting for the daughter of his beloved (played by the beautiful Disha Patani) who was kidnapped you can expect intense action and exhilarating entertainment. The lead character played by Tiger Shroff is in excellent form scene after scene. He takes on those who stand in his way without getting a single hair out of place. But amidst the sleek choreography and flame erupting scenes is a love story that will melt your heart.

RAAZI: Buried in the bitter relationship between India and Pakistan, Alia Bhatt takes us on this emotional journey as lead character Sehmetin her quest to serve her beloved country. Living as an Indian spy in Pakistan, Sehmet must walk that thin line between life and death to deliver crucial information on the imminent war between both countries that would give India the upper hand. Alia Bhatt brings innocence and strength to play in this film and with stellar performance from the rest of the cast, you are guaranteed to have a good time. Pack some tissues though

Sonu-Ke-Titu-Ki-SweetySONU KE TITU KI SWEETY: If you are looking for some light-hearted humor, this is exactly what the doctor ordered. Kartik Aaryan and Sunny Singh are best of friends with Nushrat Bharucha acting as buffer/bestie between them. Marriage bells begin to chime in the not too distant future and these friends have to decide if they would choose their friendship over love. Great 5-star performance from everyone involved.
